Náchod Chateau
 
On the promontory above the valley of the Metuje River Hron of the Načeratice family founded a castle and together with it also a town in the middle of the 13th century. The castle was built in the place where the merchants’ path passed.
 

Náchod Chateau

 
The family of Piccolomini owned the manor till 1783 and within their reign the chateau obtained in fact its nowadays’ architectonical shape. The dominant of the chateau is a cylindrical defensive tower. The plaster is covered with the sgrafitto decorations. During various reconstructions the Renaissance chateau changes into an extensive building complex with five courtyards. The interesting attraction is bears Ludvík and Dáša in the chateau moat.

Gallery of Fine Arts
 
In the precincts of the national chateau there is a residence of the National Gallery of Fine Arts. In the building of the former chateau riding-hall there was established an architectonically outstanding barrier-free exhibition hall. Each odd year there is installed collection of the Russian painting. Continuously there are held attractive exhibitions focused on personalities of Czech arts of the 20th century.
 
 
Regional Museum
 
Exhibition of the museum is located in a newly reconstructed object in Masarykovo square under the name History of Náchod and Náchod Region from prehistory to 1989. There are figures in contemporary costumes and uniforms. Models in length of 12 meters depict Náchod at the end of the 18th century as well as the Náchod Basin with the system of the reinforced-concrete fortifications of 1936 to 1938 and figures of soldiers of our army of the First Republic period.
